There was a bit of an announcement for Nebraska football on the recruiting trail Monday as 2024 four-star tight end Carter Nelson announced he would be making his decision on Wednesday afternoon. The decision is set for 12 PM CT.
Nelson has been trending to Nebraska football in recent days, with several expert predictions stating that Nelson would be going to Nebraska. Several of the top experts predicted that the tight end would be headed to Lincoln, in what has been a flurry of predictions.
This is certainly good news for Nebraska football. For one, it means he wants to make his decision quickly, and the recent trends toward Nebraska certainly work in the program’s favor. The longer the decision takes, the more opportunities there are for schools to jump in his recruitment.
There were already several pictures circulating on the Internet of Nelson hanging out with quarterback Daniel Kaelin and others. It seemed as though he enjoyed his visit. Now, he is ready to pull the trigger.
Nelson would be able to bring an impact playmaker at the tight end position for Nebraska. The Huskers have had luck in developing the position over the past couple seasons. Nelson would certainly give them an opportunity to extend the development streak, and put himself in a position to be one of the best in the Big Ten.
He has recorded 61 receptions for 866 yards and 18 touchdowns over three years of recorded statistics. He has been a key cog for the Ainsworth offense. Now, he has an opportunity to be a key piece for Nebraska as well.
This commitment from Nelson would put Nebraska in the driver’s seat in terms of in-state recruiting. They have built a fence around the state itself, with five commitments in the 2024 class coming from the state of Nebraska. From landing Kaelin to sealing the deal with Dae’vonn Hall and Isaiah McMorris, they have done a great job of getting some of the state’s top playmakers.
Nebraska football has been a strong push for Nelson ever since the new coaching staff got here. Now, all signs point him coming to Lincoln. If it happens, it would be yet another good recruiting get for Matt Rhule and the coaching staff, in what has been an impressive month.
