Nebraska football has been trending for 2024 tight end Carter Nelson for most of the weekend. They got another prediction in their favor on Sunday afternoon, as Rivals.com’s Greg Smith put in a FutureCast prediction for Nelson to go to Nebraska.
There has been smoke already in regards to Nelson committing. Multiple predictions were put in for him on Saturday. Husker commit and tight end Ismael Smith Flores also tweeted something that indicated the tight end room was going to be even better. All of these signs point towards Nelson coming to Nebraska. Smith’s prediction solidifies this.
Nelson is the second overall tight and in the 2024 class, and the top player in the state of Nebraska per the 247Sports rankings.
What would he bring to Nebraska Football?
Nelson would revitalize a Nebraska football tight end position that is already looking pretty solid. He has the size to get the job done, as he measures in at six-foot-four, 205 pounds. Nelson proved himself to be a valuable offensive weapon last year, as he caught 47 passes for 663 yards and 15 touchdowns last season for Ainsworth.
Nelson would also continue the solid production at the tight end position. Thomas Fidone and Arik Gilbert figure to have a big hand in the offense this season. On top of that, former Nebraska football tight ends Austin Allen and Travis Vokolek are already in the league. The Huskers have done a good job in recent seasons of letting solid production out of the tight end position. Nelson would undoubtedly help them with that reputation.
This would be a massive get for Nebraska and continue what has been a solid weekend for the program. They have already landed Dae’Vonn Hall and Isaiah McMorris, the second and third overall players in the class respectively. Daniel Kaelin, Ashton Murphy, and Donovan Jones are in the fourth, eighth, and 10th overall players in the state. There is a concerted effort to get players from Nebraska to commit to the program. Nelson could be next.
It will be interesting to see when Nebraska football can officially seal the deal with Nelson. All signs are pointing to them being able to do so.
