Nebraska football picked up a commitment from 2024 four-star cornerback Bryson Webber on Sunday afternoon. He made the announcement on X.
Weber is 30th overall corner in the 2025 class, and the 45th overall player in his class from the state of Texas per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He had a bunch of offers on the table, including from TCU, Baylor. Utah, and Oregon State.
Secondary coach John Butler picked up on Weber’s recruitment following his arrival to Lincoln. This is certainly impressive, as he was able to seal the deal.
Webber measures in at six-foot-two, 175 pounds. One of the things that he brings to the table is his speed. Speed is a trait that this Nebraska football coaching staff really likes. Webber has it. He ran a 10 .56 100 and a 21.79 200 as a junior in the spring.
He had an equally as impressive year on the football field as 2well. He recorded 22 tackles, two tackles for loss and two interceptions in the 2023 season.
What does this mean for Nebraska football
This commitment is another big one for a talented Nebraska for 2025 class. This gives the program another blue-chip prospect. The class currently has four four-star commits, including Weber. Overall, the class itself ranks 29th overall in the country, per the 247Sports Team Rankings
One of the biggest focuses for Nebraska in this class has been spreading around talent, especially when it comes to skill level. There is a nice amount of diversified talent on the roster, with players that can fill multiple positions and bring multiple things to the table. There is talent on both sides of the football at every position. This speaks to the strong recruiting job that this Nebraska football coaching staff has done.
They have also been able to address the corner position. This was a massive area of need just a couple weeks ago. Now, they’ve have been able to land Webber and USC transfer Ceyair Wright in a short amount of time. This coaching staff does a nice job of identifying needs, and addressing them quickly. They certainly did that here.
Weber will undoubtedly be an asset for Butler in the coming years. It will be interesting to see how Butler’s NFL background helps Weber develop.
