Nebraska football had a busy day on Tuesday, landing an in-state commitment from Ashton Murphy and also extending an offer to 2024 athlete Eric Ingwerson on Tuesday night.

Ingwerson is a local kid. He is the 148th overall athlete in the 2024 class, and the 11th overall player in the class from the state of Nebraska per the 247Sports rankings. The composite rankings have him as the 10th overall athlete at this time.

He has zero crystal ball predictions, but he does have an offer sheet that is growing. Right now, he is committed to Pittsburgh. He did so on March 21. Tight ends coach Bob Wager was the one who gave him an offer to Nebraska.

Ingwerson lined up as both a tight end and defensive end for Papillion-LaVista. On the offensive side, he lined up more so as a tight end. He has the size to be a matchup nightmare at six-foot-seven, 230 pounds. He is able to get out into the open field, and make things happen after the catch. He uses his strength to barrel over defenders, and that makes him difficult to cover as well.

The 2024 Nebraska football recruiting class currently has three commitments, and ranks 42nd overall. , per 247Sports Rankings

Ingwerson would give Nebraska football another big body at the tight end position, and also give the program some depth following the departures of upperclassman due to graduation. It will be interesting to see if Nebraska will be able to flip him, or if he will stay with his Pittsburgh pledge. He would be a nice get for the tight end room, and to give Nebraska insurance at the position.
