Nebraska football recently landed the commitment of 2026 quarterback Dayton Raiola, the younger brother of current starting quarterback Dylan Raiola.

Dayton is just a junior and he’s listed at 6-foot-1 according to his 247 Sports profile, but in his first season as a starter for Buford, a powerhouse program in Georgia, the future Nebraska football quarterback is looking the part.

The Huskers offered him before Matt Rhule was even the head coach. However, that offer was soon reaffirmed. Dayton Raiola seemed to have a stronger affinity for Nebraska football than even his brother. It was Dayton who visited for a game during the 2022 season and brought Dylan along with him.

Since Raiola wasn’t ranked by the recruiting services, some Nebraska football fans have questioned his commitment, but maybe they won’t after seeing this touchdown pass from Dayton on Friday night, especially since he’s now a three-star according to the 247 Sports composite rankings (No. 583 overall).

The future Nebraska football quarterback connected on a 63-yard touchdown with Jordan Allen, a Louisville commitment and it was an impressive throw. There’s more than just the deep ball but the arm talent of Dayton hasn’t been the question.

Dayton Raiola could be a steal for Nebraska football

He needs to physically mature more but that’s already happening and it’s starting to feel like the Huskers got a steal with Dayton Raiola in the 2026 class. He might not be a blue-chip yet, but if he continues to play this way, that could change.

Raiola will be among the recruits visiting Nebraska football on Saturday for the Rutgers game. It should be noted though that Corey Simms, the four-star wideout committed to USC, won’t be visiting. There were hopes of a flip but he has canceled his visit to Lincoln.
