Elite offensive tackle recruit eliminates Nebraska football

Despite Nebraska football quarterback Dylan Raiola getting involved, the No. 1 offensive tackle in the 2025 recruiting class, David Sanders, has released a top-six list and the Huskers didn’t crack it.

Nebraska football just offered Sanders last week. Raiola reached out to the 6-foot-6, 270-pound offensive tackle out of Providence Day High School in Charlotte, North Carolina and there was some hope that the Huskers might be able to get him on campus for a visit.

That would have been the next step if they were going to become a serious contender for Sanders. But on Saturday, the elite offensive tackle prospect cut his recruitment down to Ohio State, Georgia, Clemson, South Carolina, Alabama, and Tennessee.

Clemson is probably the closest program in terms of distance and the Tigers have done a great job with Sanders. They feel like the early leader. You can never count out Georgia and for that matter, it might be too early to count out Nebraska. Remember, they nearly got back into the mix with Brandon Baker in the 2024 class.

The timing of the offer seemed weird. It just seemed a little late in the process to be extending a scholarship offer but sometimes, that’s how it goes. Nebraska has plenty of other targets in 2025, especially at offensive tackle. One name that comes to mind is Andrew Babalola.

The Huskers have a shot there. Not so much with David Sanders.
