One of the most important 2026 recruits on campus for Nebraska football this past weekend was three-star tight end Luke Sorensen.
The 6-foot-4, 245-pound tight end out of Servite, California, is ranked No. 669 overall in the 2026 class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.
Nebraska has missed on some tight ends; however, Sorensen is one of the top targets on the board, along with Lincoln Watkins.
The Huskers are battling Florida for Watkins. As for Sorensen, Penn State went into the weekend as the leader, with the lone crystal ball projection.
Yet, after a stellar visit to Lincoln, which Sorensen told Chad Simmons of On3.com “would be hard to top,” Nebraska football has gotten a crystal ball projection from Mike Schaefer of Huskers247.
Sorensen recently announced a top three that included Nebraska, as well as Penn State and Ole Miss. He caught 15 passes for 183 yards and two touchdowns last season in high school, but is one of the best blocking tight ends in the 2026 class, according to his 247 Sports scouting report.
The announcement of a commitment, which is scheduled for June 20th, came right after the visit to Penn State. However, Nebraska got him on campus last weekend and seems to have taken the lead.
There are 11 days to go before his commitment. A lot of things can change during that time, but it feels like the Huskers have done enough with Sorensen. They are trending toward two more commitments in the 2026 class, and it feels like this is just the vao.
