Nebraska football trying to flip an SEC commitment; In-state QB on the rise

Nebraska football only has three commitments in the 2026 class, but the Huskers are working to grow that number and one of their efforts includes a current Georgia four-star pledge, Jontavius Wyman.

Wyman is 5-foot-11, 175 pounds out of Jonesboro, Georgia, and is ranked No. 175 overall in the 2026 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

The blue-chip defensive back is the longest-standing commitment of the Bulldogs in the 2026 class, but Nebraska football, USC, and Miami are all making a push to flip him according to Sam Spiegelman of Rivals.

The next step for Nebraska is getting Wyman on an official visit. According to 247 Sports, he will visit Miami soon.

There is no word if he’ll make it to Lincoln this spring, but getting the defensive back on campus for a spring visit, plus an official in the spring will be essential if the Huskers are serious about a flip.

Another in-state QB to know for Nebraska football

We have talked plenty about quarterback recruiting for Nebraska football in the 2027 class. Trae Taylor is the top target and the Huskers are among the top five. He’s also expected to visit Nebraska football this spring.

However, Michigan and some other heavy hitters are in the mix. Nebraska is hosting another 2027 quarterback ranked in the top 100 for a spring visit, but another name to know is Braylen Warren, a 2027 in-state quarterback with a growing offer sheet.

Iowa State was the first to offer but in the past two months, the Omaha Westside quarterback has been offered by Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Missouri, South Florida, and Arkansas.

Warren is a Nebraska football legacy but Nebraska hasn’t shown any interest in Jeff Thomalla in the 2026 class, so maybe the Huskers are looking outside the state for a QB. Daniel Kaelin is the only in-state QB to be offered and he transferred after one season, which had a lot to do with Dylan Raiola.

Dayton Raiola is the reason Thomalla hasn’t been offered. Taylor is likely the reason that Nebraska hasn’t offered Warren at this point. Taylor is announcing a commitment this summer and if he doesn’t choose the Huskers, it might be wise for Nebraska to turn its attention to Warren.

Or at least have him on the radar before it’s too late.
