Welcome to Husker Big Red Daily, your daily stop for the latest Nebraska football news, recruiting buzz, transfer portal updates, and Huskers headlines. Here’s a quick look at the latest storylines surrounding Nebraska athletics.
It might be too early to start thinking about the bowl season, but after a 5-0 start for Nebraska football, the bowl projections are much more favorable to the Huskers.
Nebraska hasn’t played in a major bowl game since reaching the national championship game back in 2001, when they played in the Rose Bowl. There was one Cotton Bowl berth under Bill Callahan, but that’s it.
Yet, after a fifth consecutive win, the Huskers are trending toward the Citrus Bowl. Four different projections have Nebraska in the Citrus, while two others have the Big Red headed to the ReliaQuest Bowl or the Cactus Bowl.
Here is the full table of bowl projections following Week 5.

Nebraska football making a “strong push” to flip 5-star Ahmad Hudson
Ahmad Hudson’s mom told Rivals that it was a “great weekend.” Hudson also had positive things to say in his interview with Sam Spiegelman. The Rivals recruiting expert wrote that Nebraska football left a “strong impression.”
At this point, who knows what Hudson will do. This visit was significant, though. LSU isn’t going to throw in the towel, but visiting just days after some called their shots, saying this recruitment was over, was certainly eye-opening.
Trae Taylor is a factor here, too. The two five-star recruits have long had a close relationship. Maybe it will be enough for Hudson to finally flip. We shall see.
Andi Jackson honored again
The amazing Andi Jackson won Big Ten Player of the Week honors for the second week in a row. Here’s more from Huskers.com:
“Jackson’s all-around performance led the top-ranked Huskers to a 2-0 week at No. 16 Penn State and Maryland. On the week, the senior averaged 3.83 kills per set and 2.00 blocks per set to become one of two players nationally with at least 3.50 kills per set and 2.00 blocks per set.
Across the two matches, Jackson totaled 23 kills and hit .526 on 38 swings while adding 12 blocks on the defensive end.
On Thursday, Jackson hit .625 with 11 kills and one error on 16 swings while posting a season-high seven blocks in Nebraska’s sweep at No. 16 Penn State.
The senior recorded 12 kills, six aces, five blocks and four digs in Saturday’s sweep of Maryland. Jackson tied a program record in the rally-scoring era with six aces in a three-set match, tying Annika Albrecht (2015), Michelle Lynch (2004) and Anna Schrad (2002).
