Nebraska football has an official visit scheduled with an elite recruit in the 2025 class, plus more in our Nebraska Cornhuskers news roundup.
Matt Rhule and Nebraska football are shooting their shot with some five-star recruits in the 2025 class, extending offers recently to David Sanders (Offensive tackle) and DJ Pickett (DB).
Yet, the Huskers still have a long way to go before being considered a true contender for either, even though Dylan Raiola is doing his best to recruit Sanders.
However, Nebraska football is making real progress with another top-100 recruit and that’s four-star athlete Michael Terry out of Texas.
At 6-foot-3, 210 pounds from Alamo Heights High School in San Antonio, Terry is one of the best all-around athletes in the 2025 class and is ranked 52nd overall according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.
Oregon and Texas are listed as “warm” on his 247 Sports profile. Texas A&M and Notre Dame are also in the mix but the Huskers are too and on Tuesday, Terry announced that he will take an official visit to Nebraska football on April 26th for the weekend of the spring game.
Another wideout in the 2025 class, three-star Emmanuel Choice, will also take an official visit to Nebraska football that weekend. Another Texas wide receiver, Terry Shelton, who is 6-foot-4, 200 pounds, was just offered by the Huskers and told Steve Marik of Rivals he will take an official visit soon too.
Nebraska basketball teams control their destiny for double-bye
Indiana did a favor for the Huskers on Tuesday night, knocking off Wisconsin and dropping the Badgers to 10-7 in Big Ten play, which is now tied for fourth with Nebraska basketball.
The Huskers are tied for third in the Big Ten standings (in the win column). They have the same amount of wins as Northwestern (10-6) and Wisconsin (10-7). Nebraska also holds the tiebreaker over both thanks to their win over Purdue since the Huskers split with Northwestern and Wisconsin.
It would be nice to move into the three seed, but regardless of what Wisconsin and Northwestern do, if Nebraska basketball wins out against Ohio State, Rutgers, and Michigan, it will clinch the double-bye in the Big Ten tournament into the quarterfinals.
Nebraska women’s basketball also just needs one more win, or a loss by Michigan State to clinch the double bye in the Big Ten’s women’s tournament. Both squads are projected to make the NCAA tournament.
