Nebraska football fans have been drinking the Kool-Aid this offseason. Phil Steele has, too.

The renowned college football expert who puts out a college football preview magazine every year has been doing the rounds with preseason interviews, discussing the 2025 season.

For Nebraska football, that starts on August 28th against Cincinnati. I’ve gone on record saying that the Huskers will win 10 games this season and make the College Football Playoff.

Steele, in an interview with the Big Ten Network, discussed why the Huskers are a team to watch in the College Football Playoff conversation.

“I like the fact that Dylan Raiola is back at quarterback,” Steele said. “Raiola had his freshman ups and downs last year. But now they have an experienced offensive line, an upgraded receiving corps, and (Emmett) Johnson really started to emerge once Dana Holgorsen started calling the shots. Defensive front seven, they lose some talent, but I think they’ll be able to replace it. They have had a top-25 defense the past two seasons.

“When you look at the schedule, there is only one game where I have them as a true underdog. If you’re looking for a team that nobody is talking about to make the (College Football Playoff) this year, I give Nebraska a really good shot.”

There certainly have been a few talking about Nebraska making the playoff, on this blog and our YouTube channel, but outside of that, Steele’s points are hard to disagree with.

Everything is on the table for this Nebraska football team, and even the foremost experts on college football agree.
