Should Nebraska football fans be worried about Ohio State trying to flip 2024 commitment Carlon Jones?

Carlon Jones is one of my favorite Nebraska football commitments in the 2024 class. That’s a feeling shared by more than a few Husker fans, but now, Ohio State is making a play for the four-star defensive lineman.

Jones is ranked No. 441 overall according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He’s 6-foot-3, 270 pounds, and a dude who feels like a perfect fit for the 3-3-5 defense under Tony White.

Jones is a little undersized in terms of height. But the kid out of Bay City, Texas, is a player and that’s clear with the offer from Ohio State and defensive line coach Larry Johnson.

Johnson has a reputation for being one of the best defensive line coaches in the country. He’s also an elite recruiter and I’d absolutely be worried about the Buckeyes pulling off a flip here.

Carlon Jones expected to visit Ohio State

When to it comes to flipping Carlon Jones from Nebraska fooball, Ohio State isn’t messing around. Jones spoke about the offer with Letterman’s Row, the Buckeyes’ On3 site, and said that he’s been communicating with the Ohio State coaching staff for three weeks.

The four-star also has an official visit scheduled already for November 11th when Ohio State hosts Michigan State for a primetime game. Jones is one of the seven blue-chip prospects (4-star or better) committed as part of the 2024 class right now.

Nebraska football will surely do everything it can to keep him and the defense does look like one of the best in college fooball, which has to be a selling point. But Ohio State is Ohio State.
