The tight end board for Nebraska football has started to shrink in the 2026 class. Another target came off the board this past week as Camden Jensen committed to UCLA.
In-state tight end Isaac Jensen eliminated Nebraska football from consideration. Matt Ludwig, who was the top target at one time, committed to Michigan, and the Wolverines also landed Mason Bonner this week.
While the options are dwindling, Nebraska is gaining with one tight end: Lincoln Watkins, a three-star tight end in the 2026 class.
The 6-foot-4, 233-pounder out of Port Huron, Michigan, has narrowed his choices down to Nebraka and Florida. He’ll take official visits to both programs in June, followed at some point by a decision.
Watkins is ranked No. 466 overall according to the 247 Sports composite rankings in the 2026 class. Indiana is also listed as “warm” on the 247 Sports profile, but Watkins canceled his official visit to Bloomington, according to Greg Smith of Rivals.
Nebraska could use a tight end commitment, and Watkins has an impressive offer list that also includes Penn State, Miami, Florida, Illinois, Oregon, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Maryland, Kansas, Duke, North Carolina State, Pittsburgh, and others.
Nebraska football trending up with an EDGE
The Huskers have made a move lately with 6-foot-6, 235-pound EDGE Zavion Griffin-Hayes, to the point that Nebraska football is now among his top four teams, along with Michigan, Clemson, and Florida State.
Clemson and Florida State feel like the two leaders coming down the stretch of this recruitment. Yet, the Huskers have been building momentum, and the official visit on June 13th is a chance to change that.
Michigan offers Nebraska commitment
Four-star cornerback CJ Bronaugh has official visits scheduled with three programs beyond Nebraska (Florida, Florida State, and Penn State), but the Huskers have another Big Ten team to worry about — Michigan, which offered Bronaugh on Thursday.
We should have a better idea of where Nebraska stands after the official visits, but right now, holding onto the commitment of Bronaugh should be the coaching staff’s top recruiting priority.
