There was talk that Grant Brix, a top Nebraska football target could announce his commitment on Aug. 25.
It feels like a commitment from Grant Brix could come any time. Or it could take weeks, nobody really knows what the Nebraska football recruiting target is going to do.
Brix reportedly wanted to announce before the start of his high school football season, which is today, August 25th. The 6-foot-5, 280-pound left tackle is ranked No. 5 at his position according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, as well as 62nd overall. He’s also No. 1 in the state of Iowa.
In a good sign for the Huskers, Brix visited Nebraska football twice over the summer, once on an official visit, plus a stop for the “Cookout” which was right before the dead period.
That means Nebraska football got Brix on the last visit. But will that hold? He’s also talked about potentially taking more visits during the fall, which could be worrisome.
Is a decision coming soon?
When you’re the leader, you want to close things out. Nebraska feels like the leader but that also depends on who you ask. Bryan Munson of Husker Online is the only expert from On3.com to put an expert projection in for anybody.
There’s also just one crystal ball projection at this point and it favors Kansas State. However, that prediction was put in before Brix even visited Nebraska. There has also been reporting to suggest this is a Nebraska-Oklahoma battle.
That being said, Collin Kennedy who covers Oklahoma for 247 Sports, said he feels like things are trending in the direction of the Sooners. He also reported that things around Brix have gone quiet and that it feels like a decision is coming.
So even though Brix hasn’t confirmed an announcement date, he plays things close to the vest. A big commitment announcement isn’t really his style. We’ll see how it goes, but hopefully, Nebraska football lands him because Brix is a beast with one of the best get-offs I’ve ever seen.
The dude explodes off the line of scrimmage and he would no doubt be a fan favorite among Nebraska football fans for years to come.
