There were a couple of big-time players back at practice on Tuesday for Nebraska football. Wide receiver Marcus Washington and left tackle Teddy Prochazka were both back at practice.

This is a notable development for several reasons. Nebraska needs help on the offensive line, and Prochazka would certainly be a big addition. The coaching staff has been careful not to rush him back. At the very least, he is back on the field and beginning to get ready for the season.

Health is the most important thing for him, and the Nebraska football coaching staff rushed him back last year. You could tell that he wasn’t comfortable and he was put in a tough position by playing for much of the season. In any event, he needs to be healthy throughout the course of the season for the Huskers’ offensive line to be successful. The line as a whole needs to have a strong year, and he’s a big part of that.

Nebraska football needs Washington’s veteran presence

Washington being back is a major development for the wide receiver unit. He is going to be a much-needed veteran on a unit that has a ton of youth right now. He was productive last season for Nebraska football, recording 31 catches for 471 yards and a touchdown. The wide receiver was also able to gain chunks of yards while doing so, averaging 15.2 yards per reception.

Both of these players returning to practice is a major development for Nebraska football. Prochazka appears to be the starting left tackle. Washington is going to be a reliable, consistent target for a unit that desperately needs one right now. Both players have been bitten by the injury bug over the course of training camp.

At the very least, they are back on the field. Minnesota is only nine days away. All players will be needed if Nebraska wants to win. A healthy Nebraska team could be a force to be reckoned with.
