Nebraska football will be dealing with some injuries heading into Saturday’s showdown against Michigan. Linebacker Luke Reimer and defensive end Cam Lenhardt will both be out for Saturday’s contest.
The Reimer news is especially disappointing. He appeared to be on track to play in Saturday’s game, but evidently had a setback. He was questionable at the beginning of the week, and now we have a definitive answer as to his status.
He recorded six tackles in Nebraska football’s last matchup against Michigan in 2021.
Reimer’s talents would’ve been helpful, as he is good at stopping the run. Michigan comes into Saturday’s game with the sixth-best rushing attack in the conference. They average 167 yards per game. There certainly can have their hands full on Saturday, with Blake Corum leading the charge for Michigan.
Another injury for Nebraska football
Lenhardt will also be out of Saturday’s game. Lenhardt has been unavailable the past two weeks, following an injury he suffered against Northern Illinois. His status was in doubt throughout the course of this week. It would’ve been great to have him healthy for this game, but it doesn’t seem like he is progressing quickly from his injuries. The program is taking a cautious approach.
Lenhardt has six tackles and two sacks on the season for Nebraska football.
Reimer’s absence in particular is going to be a challenge for Nebraska football. They do have depth at the linebacker position. It will be up to the likes of Nick Henrich, John Bullock, and Javin Wright to be able to fill the void at the position. Those three showed that they could do it against Louisiana Tech last Saturday, and they will be tasked to do it again.
Nebraska will have their hands full against a stout Michigan team. Losing these two will make things even harder. Kickoff for the game is set for 3:30 PM ET
