New win projections were released for the 2024 Nebraska football season.

The expectations for Nebraska football are much higher heading into the second season under Matt Rhule than they were in the first.

Rhule’s first team didn’t make a bowl game. However, it did improve the win total. Yet, with the third-most returning production in all of college football, plus the addition of five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola, people are expecting much more from the Huskers in 2024.

We talked about how this season provides a golden opportunity for Nebraska football to end its bowl drought and FanDuel seems to agree.

FanDuel released its projected win total for Big Ten teams and following a 5-7 season, Nebraska football was projected to win 7.5 games.

Nebraska projected to reach a bowl game

I know some Nebraska fans will say that we should stop buying into the hype and for good reason. The offseason hype machine has been cranked up before in Lincoln, only to see the Huskers disappoint.

But, those teams didn’t have Matt Rhule as the head coach or Dylan Raiola as the projected starting quarterback. Nebraska football also has what could be one of the best defensive fronts in the Big Ten, as well as an offensive line that’s deep and experienced.

Nebraska had a top-20 defense last season. They were also one of the best rushing teams in the Big Ten. And they return most of the pieces that helped them get there, plus they added Dante Dowdell from Oregon, a former top-10 running back recruit in the 2023 class.

Nebraska is ready to win now and with a favorable schedule, FanDuel projects the Huskers to go bowling and they won’t be the only prognosticator to do so.
