The dead period is approaching, but Nebraska football recruiting feels like it’s about to heat up.

Nebraska football has eight official visitors over the weekend, on the final weekend of visits until September, due to the new recruiting calendar.

Two of the players on campus — Jase Reynolds and Dayton Raiola — have already committed to the Huskers. Six others visited this weekend. One, offensive tackle Claude Mpouma, a four-star offensive tackle at 6-foot-7, 308 pounds, has set a commitment date for June 29th.

That feels like a good thing for Nebraska football. Jamal Rule, a three-star running back who visited last week, will announce his decision on Monday night. The Huskers have been trending with expert projections to land the running back from Charlotte, ranked 778th overall, according to the On3 Industry rankings.

Those are positive developments for the Huskers. On Sunday, there was another for Nebraska football, as three-star wideout Nalin Scott, who has been committed to Arizona State since April, was projected to flip to the Huskers by Sean Callahan of Husker Online.

Scott is a 6-foot-3, 185-pound wide receiver from Powder Springs, Georgia. He’s ranked 365th overall via the 247 Sports composite rankings, making him a four-star recruit.

Pitt, Wisconsin, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Missouri, Duke, Kansas State, Michigan, Miami, UCF, Florida, Kentucky, Louisville, Indiana, SMU, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, LSU, Auburn, West Virginia, and Georgia Tech are among the offers.

Scott visited during the spring before a quick commitment to ASU. This would be a huge flip. The visit came together late, but a commitment to Nebraska could come at any time.
