Is Nebraska football on commitment watch? It sure feels like it, plus we have more Nebraska Cornhuskers news.

Nebraska football fans always get excited when defensive line coach Terrance Knighton starts posting on X because most of the time, he is teasing good news, which he did again on Sunday morning. He also tweeted something positive on Saturday.

On Saturday, it felt like he was teasing a commitment. Nebraska did get a new prediction for Malcolm Simpson, a four-star defensive line recruit who is on campus for an official visit.

The 6-foot-3, 255-pound defensive lineman is ranked 293rd overall according to the On3 Industry rankings. He’s also ranked No. 302 overall in the 247 Sports composite rankings.

Simpson has offers from Texas A&M, USC, Oklahoma State, and Baylor (plus more), and during the past two high school seasons has seven sacks and 15 tackles for loss. He also had two forced fumbles last season.

Watching his highlights, Simpson reminds me of Jimari Butler or even Cameron Lenhardt. He can play as a traditional defensive end in a 4-3 or be an EDGE. Butler has turned himself essentially into a guy who can also play five-technique and I could see Simpson growing into that.

In addition to Simpson, there is a lot of positive buzz about the Huskers and linebackers Christian Jones and Dawson Merritt. It wouldn’t surprise me to see a commitment from Jones relatively soon. It just feels like Nebraska football has all the momentum.

Chase Loftin talks about Texas A&M visit

I won’t lie though, I’m a little more worried about Chase Loftin. I try not to overreact about visits and what recruits say about them, but Loftin talked positively about the Aggies after his trip to Texas A&M this weekend.

Loftin said that he’s “very high” on Texas A&M to Steve Wiltfong of On3. He also talked about how the offensive coordinator coached his brother at Kansas State and has a plan to implement him early in the offense.

The 6-foot-6 tight end who is ranked second in the 2025 class in the state of Nebraska, visited Florida State last weekend. Nebraska football is up next but there haven’t been any crystal ball projections yet, probably because this recruitment is tough to read.

A new in-state offer in 2026

Nebraska takes its camps seriously under Matt Rhule and after a solid performance on Friday, 2026 linebacker from Elkhorn North, Jase Reynolds, earned an offer from the Huskers.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pounder performed well in front of head coach Matt Rhule and linebackers coach Rob Dvoracek. Nebraska football likes to prioritize in-state recruits and each offer is important.

Reynolds is unranked according to the On3 Industry rankings and Nebraska appears to be his first power-4 offer.
