Anytime you land a blue-chip quarterback, it’s a successful weekend on the recruiting trail, which is exactly what the Nebraska football program did on Sunday with the commitment of TJ Lateef.

It’s a big win for Matt Rhule and new quarterbacks coach Glenn Thomas. Nebraska football didn’t even make the original top seven. The Huskers offered a few weeks after Lateef released his top group, then quickly became the favorite.

Nebraska prioritized Lateef and the effort to make him feel like the top target paid off. His visit for the spring game sealed the deal. He’s ranked No. 238 overall in the 2025 recruiting class and the Cornhuskers continue to recruit the QB position at a high level.

Outside of quarterback, to me, the most important positions are O-line and D-line. Nebraska football hosted two blue-chip tackles, including five-star David Sanders, and one of the top EDGE targets on the board, Nicholas Clayton.

However, the Huskers made progress with Broderick Shull, a four-star offensive tackle from Oklahoma. Auburn has been viewed as the favorite for the No. 196 overall prospect in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, but Nebraska fooball is now the co-leader according to what Shull told Husker Online.

We’ll see what the vibes are like for Sanders, but it sounds like the visit went well and it was a solid weekend all around for Nebraska football recruiting.

Nebraska Cornhuskers win baseball series against Indiana

Nebraska baseball scored a 4-2 win over Indiana on Sunday, thanks to five strong innings from Jackson Brockett on the mound, plus four shutout innings of relief by Drew Christo.

Christo got the win for the Cornhuskers. Case Sanderson went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Josh Caron also added two hits and drove in a run for Nebraska baseball, while Cole Evans, one day after his walk-off home run, had two hits, a double, and an RBI.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers are 32-18 overall and 14-7 in the Big Ten. They trail Illinois by a single game but own the tiebreaker. Illinois will play three games at Purdue this weekend. Nebraska baseball will have a three-game set at Michigan State.

On another note, the Nebraska softball team missed the NCAA tournament.

Big Ten outdoor track and field championship for Nebraska

The Nebraska Cornhuskers won the outdoor men’s track and field Big Ten championship for the second straight year with 50 points to spare over second place.

Tyus Wilson won the high jump with a mark of 7-6. Darius Luff also ran a 13.25 to win the 110-meter hurdles. Luff has the second-fastest time in the NCAA right now and is sixth-fastest in the world. Rhianna Phipps also won a Big Ten title for the Huskers in the women’s triple jump (43-11-3/4).
