Nebraska football still has work to do with Grant Brix after the top recruit reportedly wants to delay his decision.

Recruiting is always hard to predict. But when Grant Brix didn’t announce a decision over the weekend, it wasn’t hard to see a delay was coming for the Nebraska football target.

Brix is ranked as the No. 62 overall prospect in the 2024 recruiting class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He’s also ranked fifth among offensive tackles. Beyond that, the top-ranked player in Iowa is a mauler and would be a great fit for a Nebraska offense that wants to be physical at the point of attack.

Brix took two visits to Nebraska football over the summer. One of them was an official visit. He also visited at the end of July — on the final weekend before the dead period.

With the offensive tackle set to decide before the start of his 2023 high school season, the Huskers seemed to be in a strong position. However, after Brix didn’t announce anything this weekend, he reached out to Huskers 247 and said he’s probably going to take more time — maybe even more visits.

What does it mean for the Huskers?

“I thought I would’ve last week,” Brix said ($). “But I’m going to wait a little longer after thinking about it.”

Brix is trying to decide between Nebraska, Alabama, Oklahoma, and Kansas State. The Huskers are the leader via the On3 prediction machine but have just one expert projection in their favor. Kansas State has the only crystal ball leaning its way as of right now.

This isn’t necessarily bad news for Nebraska. What it does mean though is that there is more work to do. The Huskers might just need to get Brix on campus for a game to seal the deal.

At any rate, unless the elite 2024 recruit changes his mind, we’ll have to wait a little longer for his commitment announcement.
