Nebraska football commitment could visit at least 3 other programs

Nebraska football will have to guard against the flip of commitment CJ Bronaugh in the 2026 recruiting class.

When it comes to commitments getting flipped, I always say not to worry until there is a visit to another program, but it sounds like we have already reached that point with one Nebraska football commitment, CJ Bronaugh.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise. Bronaugh was unranked when he committed to Nebraska football as part of the 2026 recruiting class. However, he’s now ranked No. 128 overall in the 2026 class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

In its recent update, 247 Sports upgraded Bronaugh to the seventh-best cornerback in the entire 2026 class, in addition to No. 71 overall. The 6-foot-1, 166-pound cornerback out of Florida stood out at a recent recruiting event, and talent evaluators took notice.

It was hard to see what they were missing. When Bronaugh committed, I said he should be a four-star recruit. He had six interceptions last season but also runs the 100-meter dash in 10.3.

Being 6-foot-1, having elite ball skills, and running that fast are all the makings of an NFL cornerback. That’s all great for Nebraska football, except that other programs are taking notice, too.

Oregon just jumped into the mix with an offer. Miami did, too. Tom Loy of 247 Sports also reported that Bronaugh isn’t done with his recruitment and is looking at “potential” official visits to Penn State, Texas A&M, and Oregon.

That’s worrisome. Bronaugh does have an official visit scheduled to Nebraska, too. So it’s not time to panic but Bronaugh has all the makings of a CB1 and it would be a huge bummer to see him take a rightful jump in the rankings, only to flip to another program.
