Nebraska football could be adding another defensive lineman for the 2024 season plus more Nebraska Cornhuskers news.

Nebraska football has been making waves in the transfer portal this offseason. This week was particularly busy as the Huskers landed Jahmal Banks, Micah Mazzccua, Dante Dowdell, Isaiah Neyor, and Stefon Thompson since last Friday.

That goes along with the addition of Blye Hill, who signed with the Huskers during the Early Signing Period. Nebraska football had some key areas of need and they filled them with quality players. Hill is an up transfer from the FCS, but every other player has essentially been a starter at the FBS level, outside of Dowdell.

Yet, Dowdell is a former top-10 running back recruit (in the 2023 class) and averaged more than five yards per rushing attempt playing for the Oregon Ducks in 2023.

Keeping all that in mind, Nebraska football has offered a JUCO transfer in the 2024 class. The offer is to defensive lineman Dylan Christley. The 6-foot-1, 275-pounder registered 11 sacks last season as a JUCO and is an athletic big guy who could add a pass-rushing presence to the defensive line.

Colorado State, Wyoming, UNLV, New Mexico State, Texas State, and Maryland are among the other teams that have offered. We’ll see if Nebraska football gets him in for a visit, but the Huskers have been looking for defensive line depth in the portal and Christley feels like another potential impact addition.

Just imagine Nebraska’s defensive front with another active pass rusher. Sign me up.

Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball land middle blocker in transfer portal

The Nebraska volleyball team has added more depth via the transfer portal in 6-foot-4 middle blocker Leyla Blackwell. She’s coming from San Diego where she played 87 matches in her career and went to the Final Four in the 2022 season.

During the 2023 season, Blackwell averaged 2.25 kills per set, along with 1.24 blocks. She also hit .329 this season and should be yet another weapon for a Nebraska volleyball team that finished as the national runner-up.

It should also be noted that Ally Batenhorst, an outside hitter for Nebraska volleyball, announced that she was leaving via the transfer portal this week.
