We are closing in on the commitment date for Trae Taylor, a top target for Nebraska football in the 2027 recruiting class, and all of the signs are pointing to a huge recruiting win for the Huskers.

The 6-foot-3, 185-pound quarterback just visited Lincoln on Saturday for the Husker Games. Nebraska football was projected to land Taylor by Bryan Munson, a Nebraska recruiting expert for Husker Online. Now, the Publisher for the site, Sean Callahan, is also projecting Taylor to commit to Nebraska on Thursday.

None of the national experts, such as Steve Wiltfong or Chad Simmons, have weighed in yet, but it shouldn’t be long. Taylor is ranked 35th overall in the 2027 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

Dylan Raiola was ranked 21st overall according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. Taylor is ranked a little lower, but it would be the second time in four classes that Nebraska has signed a top-5 quarterback ranked in the top 40 overall.

This time, Nebraska football would get more recruiting benefits. Taylor would have more chances to peer recruit than Raiola, who flipped late in the 2024 class.

If Nebraska misses on Taylor, there is another 2027 option worth exploring in Braylen Warren. The Omaha Westside quarterback is ranked No. 350 overall in the 2027 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. His dad was a Husker legacy. He’s also ranked as the No. 2 player in the state of Nebraska in 2027.

Warren has offers from the SEC, ACC, Big Ten, and Big 12. Nebraska hasn’t offered yet. Taylor has been the priority, and that decision seems to have paid off.

Ohio State is now showing interest in Warren. The Buckeyes will watch him throw this week. That makes you think twice about the decision not to offer him, but Nebraska has put all its eggs in Taylor’s basket.

So far, it has paid off.
