After another key commitment, who is next for Nebraska football?

Nebraska football landed another key commitment on Wednesday and we predict who could be next for the Huskers in 2025.

Nebraska football picked up its 15th commitment on Wednesday from three-star offensive tackle Shawn Hammerbeck, a three-star tackle out of South Dakota.

Hammerbeck is an interesting prospect. He’s a former tight end and defensive end. He’s 6-foot-7 though and is listed at either 240 or 260 pounds. Regardless, he will need to add to his body. However, that’s something that can be done in the weight room.

You can’t teach 6-foot-7 in the weight room. Footwork can be improved but that’s the thing I liked most about Hammerbeck. He’s going to need some development. But the Huskers have the time to develop him, especially after taking 10 offensive linemen in the previous two classes.

Hammerbeck is ranked No. 634 overall according to the 247 Sports composite rankings for the 2025 class, making him the Huskers’ sixth-highest-ranked commitment. Nebraska football also beat out Kansas State and Texas Tech for his commitment — which they should — but it was still a nice recruiting win for the Huskers.

Who will be the next commitment?

Nebraska football seems intent on getting as many commitments done before the season and training camp as possible. I’m not sure what that means for Chrisitan Jones.

The four-star, in-state linebacker who is ranked in the top 160 overall, has talked about taking another visit or two this fall and extending his timeline.

However, Will Hawthorne, a three-star linebacker from Iowa, is also on the board. He’s down to Nebraska football and Iowa State and just visited June 21st officially. A decision is looming there soon and if the Huskers take Hawthorne, it could mean they don’t want to wait for Jones. Iowa State leads via the On3 prediciton machine 53 to 45 percent so it’s close.

Yet, another 2025 defender, Bryson Webber, feels like a good bet to be Nebraska’s next commitment. The 6-foot-2, 175-pound cornerback out of Missouri City, Texas is ranked No. 295 overall according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

The four-star cornerback has multiple crystal balls in favor of Nebraska football. The Huskers also have a 99-percent chance according to the On3 prediction machine and I wouldn’t be shocked if Webber was N by the end of the week.
