Nebraska football fans shouldn’t be above laughing at the pain of Iowa. Tuesday provided another opportunity to do so as Kirk Ferentz saw his prized offseason addition, five-star offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor, choose Alabama over Iowa for the second time.

Proctor, who was a five-star signee for the Crimson Tide in the 2023 class, flipping his commitment on Signing Day from the Hawkeyes to the Crimson Tide, made news this offseason when announced a transfer to Iowa from Alabama following the retirement of Nick Saban.

Proctor admitted at an Iowa basketball game that the Hawkeyes tampered with him during the season — shocking based on Kirk Ferentz’s high-and-might approach to everything — so it’s hard to feel bad for them when Alabama tampered and got him back.

Who knows what happened? But the spring transfer window opens on April 15th, so I’m not sure if this is related to NIL money or something else, but as funny as it is for Nebraska football fans to laugh at Iowa, this isn’t a good thing for anyone who loves college football.

For the love of god, powers that be, take your eyes off the money for two seconds and fix the sport we love — before it’s totally ruined by the powers that be (rant over for now).

Nebraska football a finalist for three-star O-lineman

John Mills, a 6-foot-6, 330-pound offensive tackle in the 2025 class, ranked 704th overall, out of California, included Nebraska football among his top six on Tuesday. USC, Texas, Washington, Florida, and California are the other teams in the mix.

Mills told Bryan Munson of Husker Online that he’s expecting to take an unofficial visit to see the Nebraska football program this spring. He’s also expected to take an official visit too.

The 2025 recruit isn’t highly-rated, yet, but he’s highly sought after as you can see by his top six, so add his name to the list of top targets at offensive tackle for the Huskers.

More Nebraska Cornhuskers news

  • In case you missed it, Fred Hoiberg signed a contract extension to remain the men’s basketball head coach of the Nebraska Cornhuskers through the 2028-29 season. He’s now the 12th-highest-paid coach in college basketball and with Michigan needing a new head coach, locking up Hoiberg was smart. It also shows Dennis LeBlanc can get things done as interim AD. Hoiberg will make $4.25 million next season and his salary will increase each year.
  • Mason McConnaughey notched nine strikeouts for the Nebraska baseball team as the Huskers rolled to an 11-5 win over Omaha. McConnaughey made his first career start and tossed five scoreless innings to get the win. He hasn’t allowed a run in his last five appearances or his last 12 innings pitched. Nebraska’s Will Walsh homered in the third straight game, becoming the first Husker since Max Anderson to do that. Josh Caron also drove in three runs after being credited with two hits (one double). Nebraska baseball is now 14-5 after wins in 11 of their last 13 games.
