Ahmad Hudson isn’t the only flip Nebraska football is targeting in 2027

With a majority of 2027 blue-chip recruits committed, Nebraska football is on the verge of its best recruiting class since the days of Bill Callahan.

It might not end up as a top-10 recruiting class, but the Huskers are ranked 15th right now, according to the 247 Sports team composite rankings, which is still a great position to be, especially with 10 blue-chip commitments out of 22.

The Huskers aren’t satisfied, though. Their aim to flip five-star tight end Ahmad Hudson is well-documented. The LSU commitment took an official visit over the summer. He also went on the record saying he was still considering both schools.

Keith Williams, the Nebraska director of recruiting, posted a GIF on Friday that made people think something positive happened with Hudson. There hasn’t been any buzz since then. So we shall see.

Nebraska wants a blue-chip linebacker in 2027 class

Hudson isn’t the only flip target of the Huskers, though, according to Tim Verghese of Rivals. Another name to know, according to a report from the Nebraska insider late last week, is four-star Minnesota pledge, Tate Wallace.

Out of Iowa City, Iowa, the 6-foot-3, 230-pound linebacker is ranked No. 364 overall in the 2027 class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He would be the 11th blue-chip in the class if the Huskers could find a way to flip him.

It won’t be easy. Nebraska offered this spring. He was supposed to visit, but then canceled the visit after committing to Minnesota. It will be interesting to see if the Huskers can get him on campus, but after landing Eli Harris and Caleb Green, it seems as though the Huskers aren’t quite satisfied.

Green is ranked No. 802 overall. Harris is ranked No. 917. Remember, Nebraska football also signed two blue-chip linebackers in the 2025 class in Christian Jones and Dawson Merritt, as well as three-star Jase Reynolds in 2026.

Wallace told Verghese his recruitment is shut down, but the Huskers could test that. He also speculated that Nebraska could try to flip four-star LB Prince Goldsby, who is committed to Ohio State.

The Huskers have most of their needs filled, so why not swing for the fences?
