Nebraska football already has four top-100 commitments in the 2027 recruiting class, and another could be on the way sooner than expected.

Four-star wide receiver Matthew Gregory started trending to Nebraska with expert projections for the Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine back in May.

Nebraska currently has a 92 percent chance to land the commitment of Gregory, a 6-foot, 170-pound wide receiver out of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, who is ranked No. 97th overall via the Rivals Industry Rankings.

The dynamic wideout was supposed to visit Lane Kiffin and LSU this weekend. Instead, the four-star receiver canceled that visit and moved up his official visit to Nebraska to this weekend.

Nebraska trending for another top-100 commitment

Nebraska was already trending in the right direction with some other visitors expected to be on campus, such as four-star cornerback Jailen Hill, who will announce a commitment on June 9th. Four-star cornerback Bryce Williams will also visit. He’s been a long-time lean, while others are visiting with Nebraska in the lead.

UCLA is fresh off getting an official visit this past weekend. There aren’t any others on the schedule for Gregory. Steve Wiltfong and Nebraska reporters Tim Verghese and Bryan Munson projected Gregory to Nebraska football. Now that the official visit season has come without any other additions to the schedule, it feels like only a matter of time before the elite wideout joins the Huskers’ 2027 class.

Some Nebraska fans might not be buying Matt Rhule as the head coach to turn things around, but this is the kind of recruiting class needed to do it, especially if the Huskers can close with Gregory and land some of their other top targets.

It’s not an on-field result, but it’s the next best thing, which also has the ability to give Rhule the chance to deliver on his promise.
