Welcome to Husker Big Red Daily, your daily stop for the latest Nebraska football news, recruiting buzz, transfer portal updates, and Huskers headlines. Here’s a quick look at the latest storylines surrounding Nebraska athletics.

Now that the 2025-26 athletic year has come to an end for Nebraska, the focus shifts to recruiting, and this will be an important month for Nebraska football recruiting.

It starts this week. The Huskers didn’t host any official visitors last weekend, but Lincoln will be packed with recruits over the next three weeks.

Three-star linebacker Eli Harris will start an official visit on Thursday, followed by 11 other official visitors, a list that is highlighted by five-star offensive lineman Albert Simien.

With four O-line commitments in tow, Geep Wade and the Huskers can swing for the fences with the 6-foot-3, 295-pound IOL who is ranked 14th overall from Rivals. Texas A&M, LSU, and Notre Dame are also in the mix for the elite prospect from Lake Charles, Louisiana, but Nebraska football has been near the top for quite some time.

There are other recruits coming for official visits who have already been projected to Nebraska football this weekend. Those recruits are four-star cornerback Jailen Hill (No. 275 overall), four-star cornerback Bryce Williams (No. 321), three-star TE Joey Hunter (No. 1,090) and three-star DL Errol Demontagnac (No. 931).

Three-star DL Nehemiah Ombati (6-3, 275 out of Minnesota) is also visiting this weekend. He’s ranked in the top 500 overall, while three-star linebacker Matthew Brady is also scheduled to be in Lincoln.

It feels like this is a week for the Huskers to close out some commitments.

Jordy Frahm announces pregnancy

One day after being eliminated from the Women’s College World Series, Jordy Frahm announced on social media that she and her husband, Trey, one of the Bowlin Boys, are expecting their first child.

It makes it even more incredible that she won National Player of the Year, went 2o/20 for the second time, making history, and led Nebraska to its best season ever, all while pregnant.

It only reinforces the fact that she is one of the greatest athletes in Nebraska history. She also offered up this heartwarming letter to the game of softball.

Transfer portal open for softball and baseball

The transfer portal is open for baseball. It doesn’t open for college softball until June 8th, but players have started announcing their intentions to transfer. Will Bolt and Rhonda Revelle will have plenty of work to do, especially Revelle as she has to replace 12 seniors.

Nebraska softball does have an All-American pitcher in Alexis Jensen. That’s critical. Samantha Bland, Jesse Farrell, and Emmerson Cope also have eligibility, but it will be a massive re-tooling of the roster.

The good news for Nebraska baseball is that the top four starting pitchers from last season all have eligibility, along with closer J’Shawn Unger. If the Huskers can retain those players, and add another top-flight, along with more depth in the bullpen, they might be able to make a deeper run in the NCAA Tournament.

Two of the three starts were quality. The bullpen let Nebraska down in both games, though. It was a weakness all year. Drew Grego and Jeter Worthley are a good place to start. Grego was the Big Ten Freshman of the Year. Case Sanderson, Mac Moyer, Max Buettenback and Will Jeske are some others that have eligibility left.

Bolt has signed a bunch of JUCO players, too, as Nebraska has a full allotment of scholarships.
