It was another exciting week to be a Husker fan. Despite all the things happening in the transfer portal (like a new DT), the Huskers win over Indiana on Saturday in men’s basketball takes the cake.
Nebraska basketball is 16-0. They are tied for first in the Big Ten and should be ranked in the top five when the AP Poll is released, although that remains to be seen.
Regardless, it feels like this team can do more than win an NCAA tournament game. It might be able to win the Big Ten championship. After beating Indiana, the Huskers are tied for first place with Purdue.
Former Huskers QB Dylan Raiola commits to Oregon
The Dylan Raiola rumors to Oregon have been heating up, and on Monday, the former Huskers quarterback committed to the Ducks. It will be interesting to see if Dante Moore declares for the draft. If he does, Raiola will take over as the starter. If not, he will redshirt and start in 2027. That’s the plan at least.
It seems like it makes sense for both sides. Raiola will be surrounded by more talent there, and for Nebraska, it’s probably better in the long run, too.
Anthony Colandrea doesn’t have Raiola’s potential, but he’s got the production and is a better fit for how the Huskers want to play moving forward. Daniel Kaelin, who had 72 yards on 12 rushes this year, and TJ Lateef all offer the element of a mobile quarterback.
What about running back?
I have zero inside information, but it sure feels like the Huskers are waiting on a certain running back to enter the transfer portal. Nebraska clearly needs a starter at the position, but hasn’t been connected to any transfer portal running backs, at least in a serious way.
There has to be a reason for that. There are some solid options in the portal now, like former Kansas State/Colorado running back Dylan Edwards, but keep an eye on Charmar Brown after the national title game. That’s what my gut tells me at least, although it might just be wishful thinking.
Huskers whip Purdue on wrestling mat
Nebraska opened Big Ten dual competition with a dominant win over Purdue, 36-3. The Huskers notched two pins and three major decisions in the 33-point win. Nebraska wrestling is 8-3 in duals this season, and 1-0 in the Big Ten. Here are the full results, courtesy of Huskers.com:Â
