We are just hours away from Nebraska football and Colorado. The Huskers are now a 6-point favorite over the Buffaloes.

On College Gameday all of the experts picked Nebraska football to beat the Buffs except Desmond Howard. We’ll see if those predictions are correct but here are three things Nebraska football needs to do tonight to beat Colorado.

Take care of the ball

This is simple. Nebraska football has been terrible at taking care of the ball during their seven-year bowl drought. It’s been uncanny. Dylan Raiola should help with that, but Dante Dowdell did have a fumble in the red zone last week and the Huskers can’t afford those kinds of mistakes tonight.

Pressure Shedeur Sanders

If Shedeur Sanders has time and a clean pocket, he’ll be extremely effective. Last year against Nebraska, the pass rush was pretty solid and he still ripped the Blackshirts to shreds.

The Huskers need to sack Sanders a few times and they need to make him rush some throws. Colorado has too many weapons and Sanders is too good so if he’s got time in the pocket, it will be a tough night.

Run the ball effectively

Another key is running the ball. Nebraska football averaged 4.7 yards per attempt last week and had over 200 yards. But Colorado isn’t UTEP.

The Buffaloes allowed 3.7 yards per attempt to North Dakota State last week. So Nebraska should be able to find success. The Huskers just have to be disciplined and the offensive line, as well as the tight ends and backs, need to play well.

But if Nebraska can pound the rock and keep Sanders on the sideline, while keeping the defense rested, and shortening the game, it’s a perfect recipe for success.
