There’s a lot of time until Early National Signing Day in December, but as of right now, Nebraska football has a lot of work to do with offensive line recruiting in the 2025 class.
The Huskers signed 10 offensive line recruits over the past two classes, so numbers aren’t a huge issue but you want to replenish the room with talent in each cycle and so far, the Huskers have failed to do that.
They had some momentum with Broderick Shull, but he recently committed to Auburn. David Sanders looks headed to Ohio State or Tennessee, and on Monday, other top targets such as Douglas Utu and John Mills came off the board to Tennessee and Texas.
Even three-star offensive tackle Brian Tapu picked Oregon State over Nebraska football. He was trending with expert projections to the Huskers before that visit but the Beavers, who don’t even have a conference affiliation, beat out Nebraska for the talented O-line prospect.
It might be time to expand the board, but there are some targets left, and here are three the Huskers really need to land if they are going to salvage a quality haul of O-lineman.
What’s next for Nebraska football O-line recruiting?
Shawn Hammerbeck, a three-star tackle out of South Dakota, also visited Nebraska football this month. He’s 6-foot-7, 240 pounds. He’s also ranked No. 544 overall in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.
Nebraska has a slight according to the On3 prediction machine, but it’s slight. There haven’t been any crystal balls or expert projections yet and after missing on Tapu, the Huskers really need to land Hammerbeck. Kansas State is the main rival there.
Four-star interior offensive lineman SJ Alofaituli, out of Bishop Gorman just visited too. He’s ranked 71st overall according to the On3 Industry Rankings and the Huskers have a 31-percent chance to land his commitment, leading Michigan slightly, which is at 27 percent.
Landing him would give the Huskers some much-needed momentum.
Houston Kaahaaina-Torres (6-2, 265) is a three-star IOL out of Hawaii. The Huskers landed Preston Taumua out of Hawaii in the 2024 class and Kaahaaina-Torres, who visited this past weekend, is ranked 530 overall according to the On3 Industry Rankings.
He’s the top-ranked player in the state of Hawaii. Nebraska has a slight lead there too according to the On3 prediction machine, but as more targets come off the board, it’s time for Donovan Raiola and the Huskers to close on these O-line recruits or they need to expand the board. It’s that simple.
