Setting the stage for Nebraska’s huge visit weekend

The first weekend of official visitors for the 2026 recruiting class are coming to Lincoln this weekend and here is a table setter.

Nebraska football hasn’t generated a ton of momentum on the recruiting trail since the commitment of Trae Taylor, at least in the 2026 class, but that could change this weekend.

There will be nine official visitors on campus for the Huskers. Most of them arrived on Thursday night. There will be a number of 2027 visitors, too, including some five-star prospects.

Right now, the focus is on 2026. CJ Bronaugh is the most important visitor, at least in my book. The four-star cornerback, ranked just outside the top 100 in the 247 Sports composite rankings, is fresh off an official visit to Florida. Florida State and Miami are pushing hard to flip him, too.

Bronaugh is 6-foot-1, had six interceptions last season, and runs the 100-meter dash in 10.34. This dude is electrifying, and Nebraska football has to do everything possible to keep the kid from Florida committed.

Bronaugh posted a photo after he arrived on Thursday and used an emoji that represents home. That could be a good sign, but social media posts can be hard to interpret.

Regardless, Nebraska can solidify things this weekend, which would be huge for the 2026 class.

Other key targets for Nebraska football visiting

The Huskers could use an elite offensive tackle in the pipeline. Kelvin Obot, a 6-foot-6, 300-pounder from Idaho, would be perfect. He visited this spring, and Nebraska currently leads according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine for the No. 78 overall prospect in the 2026 class via the On3 Industry rankings.

Another key target for Nebraska football is running back Brian Bonner. The four-star running back from California, ranked No. 108 overall, is visiting this weekend, before official visits to Penn State, Washington, and UCLA.

I’d love to see Nebraska land a big-time back like Bonner. It’s been a while, although Jamarion Parker is a dude. Still, Bonner would be the highest-ranked back landed under Matt Rhule and just the second four-star.

UCLA is the leader right now, according to the On3 Prediction machine. Syracuse commitment Kamron Wilson, a 6-foot-5 EDGE from Florida (No. 423 overall), is also back for an official visit. There’s a chance for the Huskers to finish off that flip.

Three-star tight end Luke Sorensen is also visiting. Penn State is the favorite, but Nebraka football at least has a chance to flip things before a June 20th commitment.

Outside of that, four of the nine visitors are offensive linemen. Three-star OT Rex Waterman is a player Nebraska football might be able to land this weekend, or soon after, if things go as planned.

Stay tuned.
