Predicting Nebraska basketball’s next two transfer portal commitments

It feels like more transfer portal commitments are imminent for Nebraska basketball.

Nebraska basketball has already landed one player from the transfer portal, former Belmont forward Sam Orme, a 6-foot-9 sharpshooter, who also had 25 dunks last season.

Orme should slide in the four for the Huskers. Fred Hoiberg is far from finished, though. Nebraska basketball has multiple visitors expected this weekend.

Drew Fielder, a 6-foot-11 forward, has 63 career starts with Boise State and Georgetown. Last season, he averaged 14.7 points per game and 5.7 rebounds. Fielder dished out 1.3 assists per game, to go along with 0.5 blocks and 1.8 offensive rebounds.

Offensively, Fielder was off the charts for the Broncos. He shot 54.7 percent overall, and 40.9 percent from 3-point range on 2.9 attempts per game (1.2 3-pointers per game). He also shot 60.6 percent on twos and 78 percent at the free throw line.

Robin Washut of Husker Online reports that Fielder will visit on Friday. It feels like a commitment will come soon.

Nebraska expected to host transfer point guard

Trevan Leonhardt of Utah Valley is another name to know. He’s expected to visit this weekend and seems to be the top target at point guard.

He’s 6-foot-4 and played for 26-win team that went to the NIT. Utah Valley is from the WAC. Leonhardt led the conference in assists in 2025-26 (6.0) and 2024-25 (5.7). He was also part of the All-WAC Defensive Team in 2025-26 after averaging 2.1 steals per game, plus 20 blocks.

The only downside is that Leonhardt will have just one season to play. He averaged 11.9 points per game and shot  36.8 percent on 3.4 attempts per game this season. Beyond the steals, he’s a tremendous rebounder, averaging 4.7 defensive rebounds.

If he does make it on campus, I would expect a commitment. Transfer portal visits carry more weight than high school recruiting visits, and usually, when things go well, a commitment comes soon after.
