After the final weekend of official visits before the dead period, recruits across the 2026 class are close to making decisions, including a few top targets of Nebraska football.

One of those is in-state cornerback Darion Jones, who is the No. 2 recruit in the state of Nebraska in the 2026 class. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound cornerback is ranked No. 546 overall in the 2026 class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

Jones, who has an older brother, Donovan, on the Nebraska football team, had a positive visit to Nebraska on the weekend of June 13th. However, he visited Iowa this past weekend, and since then, the Hawkeyes have been trending with crystal ball projections to land Jones over Nebraska.

Nebraska just landed Danny Odem, a top-200 cornerback in the 2026 class, but with CJ Bronaugh flipping to Florida, adding Jones would have been nice.

Another recruit who took an official visit last week, Zion Robinson, a 6-foot-3, 180-pound wideout ranked No. 132 overall, has started trending to Michigan. Robinson will announce a commitment on Wednesday, and it doesn’t feel like there’s any chance it’s Nebraska.

A new expert projection in favor of Nebraska football

Not all the news is bad, though. Nebraska football has been projected to land 2026 wide receiver Larry Miles, a dynamic three-star wideout from Orlando.

Miles is 5-foot-11, 175 pounds, and ranked No. 472 overall, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. There haven’t been any crystal ball projections yet, but Bryan Munson and Sean Callahan of On3 have put in expert projections for Nebraska football via the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, giving the Huskers a 95 percent chance to win out.

Miles also visited Kentucky, Pittsburgh, and Louisville this month. He had 68 receptions for over 1,200 yards last season and has received 44 total offers. A decision is expected on July 1st.
