Podcast: Breaking down Nebraska Football’s new WR Billy Kemp

The Nebraska football program added a new wide receiver in transfer Billy Kemp on Monday and here’s our reaction.

Nebraska football offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield made it clear that he thought the Huskers needed to add to their receiver room and they did just that on Monday night.

Billy Kemp, a player with 192 career receptions playing for Virginia, visited Nebraska football over the weekend and on Monday, announced his commitment to the Huskers. Kemp is 5-foot-9, and 175 pounds. He’s a true slot guy and different than anyone on the roster currently.

Kemp also has experience as a punt returner — another position that’s now open with Trey Palmer leaving for the NFL draft. Nebraska football still needs more additions to its wide receiver room but Kemp is a solid get and on our latest episode of the Husker Big Red Podcast/Video we broke down his addition.

Danny Jaillet (of the greatcornholio.org) and I broke down the move and also looked forward to the decision of Micah Mazzccua, a former Baylor starting offensive lineman who is making a decision later tonight.

Mazzccua would be a big-time addition for Nebraska football and would bring a second proven starter to the Huskers along with former Arizona State transfer Ben Scott, who is being penciled in as the starting center. Nouredin Nouili will also be back from a year-long suspension and Teddy Prochazka will be back from injury after missing most of the 2022 season.

That’s basically four starters right there and is a reason for optimism, especially if Nebraska can land Mazzccua or former Stanford tackle Walter Rouse.

It’s also a big night for the Nebraska basketball team which will be taking on Illinois tonight and we offer some predictions on that, as well as some other thoughts on the Nebraska football team heading into 2023 and the 2024 recruiting class.
