It turns out that Nebraska football fans aren’t the only ones excited about the Huskers heading into the 2025 season.
Pat McAfee, a member of ESPN’s College Gameday, as well as a host of WWE Monday Night Raw, made a bold statement about the Huskers on Monday night.
Nebraska football head coach Matt Rhule was in attendance for the weekly wrestling TV show. The cameras showed Rhule, Dylan Raiola, and Emmett Johnson, who all got thunderous applause.
Speaking on the broadcast, McAfee couldn’t help but talk about the Huskers.
“We’re in Omaha, Nebraska, and we’re thankful for this man, coach Matt Rhule, college football icon,” McAfee said. “Dylan Raiola and Emmett Johnson of the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team are here tonight. The boys are beloved. They got hot in the second half of the season. … It feels like they’re all the way back.”
McAfee probably means all the way back, referring to the 2025 season, or that they will be. Nebraska football went 7-6 last season and won the Pinstripe Bowl.
The Huskers did win two of their last three games, including the bowl game, but to be fair, they lost five of their last six games to end the season 6-6. Nebraska’s bowl win gave the Huskers a winning season. Now, the goal is to take the next step and contend for the College Football Playoff.
We’ll see if that happens.
