Nebraska football recruiting target Rahim Hutchins Jr. will no longer be taking his official visit to Houston. He made the announcement on X Tuesday afternoon.

Hutchins is a three-star receiver and is the 56th overall player in the state of Texas per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He has no Crystal Ball predictions at this time.

He released his top three schools at the end of May. Nebraska was one of them, along with Memphis, and Houston. Hutchins is set to visit Nebraska on June 21.

The wide receiver measures in at 6 feet, 160 pounds. He most recently received an offer from Sam Houston State on May 8.

Hutchins is a dynamic player who functions best when he can make things happen after the catch. He played on the outside in high school, and was able to use his speed to get past defenders. Athleticism was another particularly noticeable trait of his as well. Hutchins is able to go up and get the football, and that makes him a tough player to guard.

Where does Nebraska football sit currently?

Currently, Nebraska football has one wide receiver commitment in the 2025 class in Bryson Hayes. The Huskers have shown that they are not afraid to recruit the wide receiver position.

The 2025 class is coming together at a quicker rate. The class itself ranks 34th overall nationally per the 247Sports Rankings. Right now, there are 10 total commitments in the class.

The Huskers have shown interest in bigger targets such as Corey Simms and Cortez Mills. Those two are going to be tougher pulls. Hutchins is a nice backup option, and that’s not meant to be a slight on Hutchins. It more so speaks of the volume of how Nebraska football is recruiting the position.

Hutchins is definitely one to watch. He has only one official visit scheduled, with Nebraska holding that spot. Given his top three, and given the status of some of Nebraska’s other targets, it is not a stretch to say that the Huskers are in a very good spot here.
