The Nebraska volleyball team showcased itself on Saturday evening in front of a packed house of Huskers fans, who were treated to a win by the Red Team over the White 3-1, although the teams were mixed and matched throughout the four sets.
Rebekah Allick was impressive for Nebraska volleyball with a match-high 16 kills. She also had four blocks and hit .433. Dani Busboom-Kelly called her the player of the match.
Junior Harper Murray, a two-time First-Team All-Big Ten selection, also appeared to be in midseason form for Nebraska volleyball with 15 kills and nine digs. Andi Jackson also added nine kills and hit .412.
Several players stood out for Nebraska volleyball, including some of the young guns, but here are three quick takeaways from Saturday’s scrimmage:
- The middle blockers dominated. Not only did Allick and Jackson combine for 25 kills, but freshman Kenna Cogill added 10 kills and five blocks of her own, while hitting .421. Another freshman, Manaia Ogbechie, led all blockers in the match with eight. Looking around college volleyball, it’s hard to imagine anyone having a better set of middle blocks than the Nebraska volleyball team does. Jackson is a supertstar, and Allick, well, she’s an All-Big Ten caliber player in her own right.
- Despite being the two-time Big Ten Setter of the Year, Bergen Reilly is having to earn her starting position this season, as she tries to fend off sensational freshman Campbell Flynn. Reilly had 41 assists and 15 digs on Saturday. Flynn added 34 assists and 11 digs. Both players will have a role this season and should. There has even been talk of using multiple setters in the offense, so it’s a good problem to have. For my money, though, Reilly still has a solid grip on the No. 1 setter job.
- There is a competition to take the old job of Lexi Rodriguez, too. Laney Choboy seems like an ideal fit, although Olivia Mauch is battling, too. They were each solid on Saturday. I’d give the edge to Choboy, but whether it’s setter, opposite, or defensive specialist, Nebraska volleyball has no shortage of options. Busboom-Kelly wasn’t joking when she said her team is “pretty talented,” which is why she voted the Huskers No. 1.
A 5-star commitment for Nebraska women’s basketball
Amy Williams is on a roll. Nebraska women’s basketball added two commitments in two days over the weekend, including a massive get on Saturday as five-star Ashlyn Koupal from South Dakota committed to the Huskers.
Koupal is a 6-foot-2 foward who is ranked 12th overall in the 2026 class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. She’s a talented interior scorer and defender who can also shoot 3-pointers and is a true three-level scorer.
This is the second top-100 commitment in the 2026 class for Nebraska. Koupal joins Ava Miles, a 6-foot wing ranked 65th overall out of Kansas City, who committed back in July, as well as Maddi Stewart, a 5-foot-9 combo guard who committed in the 2026 class on Friday over the likes of Oklahoma, Arizona, Tulsa, and Oklahoma State.
Nebraska women’s basketball is now ranked third in the team rankings for the 2026 recruiting class.
