Nebraska football and Colorado will help shape the 2024 season according to Joel Klatt of Fox Sports.

Nebraska football

Nebraska football is garnering plenty of offseason attention. It’s the second year under head coach Matt Rhule, plus the Huskers have five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola.

Those two factors, along with Nebraska football returning most of the key pieces from one of the best defenses in college football, have set the expectations high.

Some have even suggested Nebraska football could be 7-0 going into the Ohio State game. First, though, the Huskers need to beat some pretty good teams — Colorado among them.

Nebraska football vs. Colorado ‘will shape the season’

The season opens against UTEP. But the game against Colorado is one Nebraska football fans have circled on their calendar, especially after last season’s 36-14 beatdown by the Buffs. It was an embarrassing day for the Huskers and frankly, I can’t stand another loss to Deion Sanders.

But Joel Klatt, himself a former Buffalo, is probably correct in saying that the Nebraska vs. Colorado tilt set for Week 2 will be one of the games that will shape the 2024 college football season.

In his latest Podcast, Klatt listed the 10 games that wil shape the 2024 season and Nebraska football vs. Colorado was one that made the list.

“We’re either going to plunge into Prime Time mania again or Nebraska is going to be for real,” Klatt said. “That game is highly interesting and will definitely shape the season.”

“If Nebraska wins, that’s a very different type of shaping. Let me take you into a Nebraska win. That would be their toughest test I think by a substantial margin on the way to being 7-0 on the way to playing Ohio State in Columbus later in the year. They beat Colorado, there is a real likelihood that they are 7-0.”

I didn’t say 7-0. Joel Klatt did. He’s not the only one. But first, Nebraska has to beat UTEP and they have to beat Colorado.
