There haven’t been many bright spots this season for Nebraska football but Ty Robinson has been one of them.

Due to a targeting penalty during the first week of the season, Ty Robinson wasn’t able to play for Nebraska football in the first half against Colorado on Saturday.

But in just one half of work, Robinson did enough to grab the attention of some NFL scouts as the 6-foot-6, 310-pounder stood out against the Buffaloes.

During the first game of the season against Minnesota, Robinson didn’t register a tackle. However, he was credited with five pressures and three hurries. On Saturday, Robinson was credited with two tackles in the second half and impressed some Senior Bowl scouts too.

This is what Senior Bowl executive director of scouting Jim Nagy told On3.com about Robinson this week:

Good-looking developed NFL frame,” Nagy said. “Throwback type. Big, strong, tough and competitive — these guys figure out a way to stick on NFL rosters. Good, instinctive football player that grows on you the more tape you watch. Scheme versatile with length to fit as a 4i in a 3-4 or a 1-tech in a 4-3. Got our attention on Saturday and definitely someone we’ll keep close tabs on the remainder of the season.”

The Senior Bowl scouts players to invite to its game, and most of the players invited to the Senior Bowl wind up getting drafted. Robinson is a senior but still has another season of eligibility after this because of the 2020 COVID year not counting.

Nebraska’s D-line has been a huge positive

Robinson hasn’t notched a sack yet, but he has done a great job of getting pressure and can more than hold his own on the line of scrimmage. He can also play multiple spots. Robinson has played some defensive end, nose, and defensive tackle for Nebraska football.

Robinson and his defensive linemates have been one of the few positives. Nebraska is actually tied for the FBS lead in sacks with 11 and the Huskers are also allowing just 1.9 yards per rushing attempt.

And in another bit of good news, Nebraska will have an NFL-caliber defensive lineman for four quarters this week, instead of just two quarters in Week 2.
