Nebraska football has landed one running back in the 2024 class and is targeting another in top-100 talent Caden Durham.
It wasn’t long ago that Nebraska football seemed to be scrambling at the running back position in the 2024 recruiting class.
However, that all changed when the Huskers hosted Kewan Lacy for an official visit. The three-star running back from Texas committed to Nebraska football soon after.
As I said at the time, I’d feel great about him being the top running back in the class. Yet, I’ve been saying the Huskers needed to add another. Nebraska football took one running back in 2023 and two over the course of two classes isn’t enough in my book.
Well, Nebraska isn’t resting on its laurels as the Huskers have an official visit scheduled for September to host four-star running back Caden Durham.
Durham is out of Duncanville, Texas, and is the No. 10 running back in the 2024 class via the 247 Sports composite rankings, as well as 97th overall.
Where does Nebraska stand with Caden Durham?
However, this recruitment still seems pretty wide open. Oklahoma is the crystal ball favorite right now. But the Sooners have already taken a 2024 running back and are the leader for Taylor Tatum, the No. 1 running back in the class.
If Taylor commits to the Sooners, it’s not hard to see Durham at least entertaining other options. LSU has also gotten a crystal ball but that was back in March.
In terms of official visits, Durham went to Oklahoma, Michigan State, Texas A&M, and UTSA. He’s also got official visits scheduled in the fall with Nebraska football (Sept 29) and Alabama (Sept. 8). LSU didn’t host him for an official visit, but the Tigers could in the fall.
So there is going to be some stiff competition. However, we know the success the Huskers have had in the state of Texas with 13 commitments over the past two cycles, which means you shouldn’t count them out.
Nebraska was supposed to have another 2024 running back, Hunter Andrews, visit in September. Yet, he took an official visit to Utah and the Utes are trending as the leader now. The official visit isn’t scheduled anymore either, so Durham is definitely the top guy on the board.
