Nebraska football fans are stoked about the commitment of Trae Taylor but there are even more reasons to love the blue-chip QB.

Nebraska football commitment Trae Taylor is a different dude, and I mean that in the best way possible.

The 2027 quarterback pledge of the Huskers has been back in Lincoln this week. He took part in a camp last weekend and will be visiting for the entire week.

The high school sophomore has become quite an ambassador for the Nebraska football program on the recruiting trail. He’s also getting more familiar with fans after doing a media blitz this week of podcast interviews.

In an interview with former Nebraska football great, Adam Carriker, Taylor said, “My job is to take over when Dylan leaves.”

Even though others, such as TJ Lateef, might take issue with that statement, I love it. Taylor has confidence. He oozes it, and that’s something you want in a quarterback. You want a dude who believes he will lead his team to a touchdown when it’s down four, with under a minute left.

Call me crazy, but I don’t mind the idea of Taylor being that guy for Nebraska football, after Dylan Raiola, of course, who is also going to be that guy this season.

Taylor doesn’t seem at all interested in talking to other schools, which is refreshing. He’s recruiting for Nebraska and even getting a taste of the local cuisine, trying out a Runza and giving his review.

Taylor even said he was going to find some chili to put over a Cinnabon — and you are telling me he’s not from Nebraska!?

Based on what I’ve seen, since his commitment, just from a leadership and personality standpoint, Nebraska struck gold with Taylor. He’s a top-60 overall recruit in 2027, with similar talent to Raiola.

If you weren’t excited about his talent, just watch Taylor throw. If Nebraska gets 6-7 years of Dylan Raiola and Trae Taylor as its starting quarterbacks, this program will win consistently.

You need transcendent players to turn around a program, and Nebraska has that in Raiola. They also found that in Taylor, and unlike most recruits, there doesn’t feel like there is any chance of a flip.

Taylor is different, and Nebraska football fans, if they haven’t already, will fall in love with this kid.
