Nebraska football quarterback Jeff Sims entered the transfer portal on Wednesday morning. This was reported by 247Sports Chris Hummer.
Sims came over to the Nebraska football program last offseason from Georgia Tech. The quarterback was thought to be one of the more productive signal callers in the transfer portal, ranking 16th in the On3 transfer portal quarterback rankings. He was also one of Matt Rhule’s first big-time gets in the transfer portal as Nebraska football coach.
Unfortunately, things did not work out for Sims. After beginning the season as the starting quarterback, injuries and inconsistent play derailed his efforts. He finished the season playing in five games, two starts at the quarterback spot. He went 28-of-47 through the air for 282 yards and a touchdown.
One of his more productive games came in the opener against Minnesota. He passed for 114 yards and had 91 rushing yards on 19 carries.
Sims has 1,746 passing yards and 1,341 rushing yards in his career.
His dual-threat ability was one of the strongest aspects of. His game. He was able to show that a little bit in Lincoln. Unfortunately, that consistency was never there for the entire season. Sims shared playing time with Heinrich Haarberg and Chubba Purdy last season.
