Nebraska football had a couple of positive things happen on the recruiting trail on Saturday. First, there was the commitment of three-star athlete Jackson Carpenter.

Carpenter is one of the top-ranked players in the state. He’s an impressive athlete who is likely going to play wide receiver for the Huskers, but could also play safety.

Yet, Kansas was fighting hard for Carpenter. It felt like a two-team race and there was some thought that the Jayhawks even had the lead at one point. However, Matt Rhule is tough to beat for in-state recruits.

More positive momentum for Nebraska football recruiting

That’s been proven during his first two Nebraska football recruiting classes. We got a reminder of that on Saturday too as Christian Jones, a top priority and the top-ranked recruit in the state of Nebraska for the 2025 class, made a surprise visit.

That’s not all though as Bryan Munson of Husker Online put it an expert projection for the Huskers to land the commitment of three-star wideout Bryson Hayes from Kansas.

Hayes is 6-foot, 180 pounds. He’s ranked 838th overall according to the On3 Industry rankings for the 2025 class. The wideout is quick too and posted a 10.69 in the 100-meter dash earlier this month, making him a perfect fit.

The ninth-ranked player in Kansas visited Nebraska football earlier this month. He’s also going to be back for the spring game, plus an official visit in the summer. Kansas and Kansas State both have official visits scheduled too.

Kansas State received a pair of expert projections last year for Hayes. The Wildcats are still the leader according to the On3 prediciton machine. Yet, Nebraska got a crystal ball from Steve Wiltfong, long before he left 247 Sports and this new crystal ball from Munson is a good sign.

It seems like another recruitment the Huskers are poised to win.
