There’s no doubt that Christian Jones is among the top recruiting priorities for Nebraska football in the 2025 class. Not only is Jones the top-ranked player in the state according to the 247 Sports Composite rankings, but he’s also one of the best recruits in the country ranked 157th overall.
At 6-foot-3, 220 pounds, Jones is an impressive specimen. He looks the part and has been gaining interest from teams like Texas A&M, Tennessee, USC, Oklahoma, Florida, and many more. Jones has also taken his fair share of spring visits.
Christian Jones visits Nebraska football
Yet, the Omaha Westside linebacker hadn’t been to Lincoln. That was a little concerning. It reminded me of Carter Nelson a little bit last season, but as I have said, as long as Jones gets on campus sometime during the spring, then I won’t be too worried.
Well, Jones made a surprise visit on Saturday — one that wasn’t reported — for the Huskers’ first spring scrimmage. Nebraska football has now hosted Jones for visits nine times. No other program has had him on campus more than once, at least according to On3.com.
Jones was interviewed by Tom Lemming earlier this week and he waited until nearly the end to say Nebraska when talking about teams he was interested in. However, there’s no reason to read too much into that.
Last year, it felt like Georgia was in the lead for Carter Nelson in the spring. At this point though, no clear leader has emerged for Jones, outside of Nebraska, which is the crystal ball favorite. Official visits are next and I would be shocked if Nebraska didn’t get one of those.
