Nebraska football head coach Matt Rhule made a strong stance in regards to College Football Playoff, as he spoke at Big Ten media days on Wednesday. He believes that four teams should get into the playoffs from the Big Ten, and vouched for the league strongly, in regards to its talent.

This is certainly not the craziest statement, especially when you look at the teams. You have the traditional teams, like Ohio State and Michigan. Then, you have the newer teams like USC and Oregon. Of course, we all hope that Nebraska football is in the mix at some point sooner rather than later. Nevertheless, there is still a bit of building to do.

There is little doubt that the league has a ton of strength, especially with the new additions. Michigan certainly proved that last year, winning the national title. The Wolverines could be in line to win it again, as they are bringing back a strong roster despite all the departures.

At the very least, Rhule has confidence in what the league brings to the table, as reported by Action Network’s Brett McMurphy.

When you look at the league overall, it truly is a national league and brand. This is certainly a positive, especially when you consider coverage with media markets, and the recruiting impacts as well. Rhule tends to look at things from a bigger picture point of view. He is well aware of the talent it possesses, having suffered defeats at the hands of some of these programs.

If anything, the scope of the Big Ten is changing. The landscape is changing. Nebraska is in a good spot with Rhule, because he recognizes this. Even still, winning football games will be the ultimate way to ensure that the program doesn’t fall too far behind.
