Alex Manske was the top target for Nebraska football in the 2025 class but he’s now trending to the Iowa State Cyclones.

Before the whole Dylan Raiola thing came about, it seemed like Nebraska football was the clear leader when in the recruitment of 2025 quarterback Alex Manske out of Iowa.

At 6-foot-3, 205 pounds, Mankse is ranked as a three-star prospect. He’s ranked No. 516 overall according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. The Iowa prospect had been to Lincoln a total of six times after the hire of Matt Rhule last year.

The Huskers were even trending as the favorite to land Manske according to the On3 prediction machine. Bryan Munson of Husker Online projected Manske to be a Nebraska football commitment. However, things have shifted since Dylan Raiola signed with the Huskers and there’s no doubt about it.

Iowa State actually received a pair of crystal ball projections for Manske back in December. Nebraska was still expected to host the quarterback for a visit on Jan. 20, but he went to Texas A&M instead. But it’s not the Aggies who are now the leader.

Iowa State trending as the favorite

Allen Trieu of 247 Sports has followed suit with the other crystal ball projections and put one in for the Cyclones to land the in-state quarterback this week. That could mean that a commitment is imminent. You never know, but according to Sean Callahan of Husker Online, the Huskers are going to do an in-person visit with Manske soon.

Surely, they will try to get him back on campus. However, after Nebraska football offered another 2025 quarterback, the writing could be on the wall.

Besides, getting any 2025 quarterback might prove difficult since Daniel Kaelin and Dylan Raiola could be occupying the starting job for the next five years if all goes according to plan.

So it might be better to focus the recruiting efforts on landing Dayton Raiola in the 2026 class, which could add another elite signal-caller for the future. And truth be told, if the choice is Manske or Dayton Raiola, well that’s not much of a choice — it’s Raiola all day.
