Nebraska football offered a 2025 quarterback target on Monday, as Matt Zollers picked up an offer from the Huskers. He made the announcement on X.

Zollers had a solid junior season for Spring-Ford High school. He was a first-team All-League selection, as well as a First Team All-Area selection. He threw for 2,917 yards, 37 touchdowns and two interceptions.

The Pennsylvania native is a four-star recruit, and has a 90 overall numerical rating from 247Sports. He is the eighth overall quarterback in his class, and the third overall player in the state of Pennsylvania.

Several Big Ten schools have already sent offers his way. Michigan State and Penn State have offered him as well as Nebraska.  He received offers from Michigan State, Virginia Tech, and East Carolina all within the last week.

What could he bring to Nebraska football?

Zollers is more of a pocket-passing quarterback. With that being said, he can possess mobility in the pocket, and is very good at sensing pressure around him. He also has tremendous accuracy down the field, and can use his arm to make big plays. His arm strength and accuracy are two of the biggest assets of his game.

He is similar to some of the other profiles of Nebraska quarterback recruits. Pocket presence and downfield throws are things program appears to be looking for.

It is certainly encouraging that Nebraska football is getting in on Zollers. They have already had tremendous success recruiting quarterbacks as evidenced by Dylan Raiola and Daniel Kaelin. Now, they want to keep the pipeline going.

It’s also worth noting that Alex Manske is taking a visit to Texas A&M this weekend and not Nebraska. The huskers are probably going to need to pivot elsewhere, and Zollers is an excellent start.

The only downside with him is, his profile is going to continue to grow. This will not be an easy recruitment for Nebraska football to win. However, they are beginning to get some strong quarterback talent in the room. If anything, momentum is on their side. This is certainly a recruitment worth keeping an eye on.

It will be interesting to see if the Huskers can make any major moves with Zollers.  Getting the ball rolling on the 2025 quarterback class is never a bad thing. They certainly could use an arm for the future. Getting a rotation of talented quarterbacks is what the program has been missing in previous coaching regimes. It doesn’t seem like that will be an issue here.
