Nebraska football landed former Texas wide receiver Isaiah Neyor late Friday night. The wideout made the announcement on X.

Neyor played for Texas last season. He caught a pass for 14 yards. He was most productive in 2021 when he played for Wyoming. He caught 44 passes for 878 yards and 12 touchdowns that season. Neyor showcased his explosiveness while with the Cowboys, hosting several 100-yard games. He had 126 yards on November 12, 2021 as well as 125 yards the following weekend.

He capped off his impressive 2021 season with five catches for 87 yards and a touchdown in the famous Idaho Potato Bowl.

This is a major recruiting win for Nebraska football in what is sure to be a big weekend. For starters, this gives them a veteran in the wide receiver room. The Huskers desperately needed one at the position and they were able to get it.

Secondly, Neyor fits this style of offense well. Offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield wants to have an explosive offense.  Neyor is an extremely athletic player, who is not afraid to go up and make a catch. In addition, he can turn on the jets on intermediate throws, and turn a medium gain into a long one. Nebraska’s wide receiver room is full of explosive playmakers. Neyor can certainly be added to that list.

A good fit for Nebraska football

For what it’s worth, Nebraska football tried to have an explosive offense last year. However, they were unable to do so with the personnel at their disposal. Players like Neyor should be able to help the Huskers get to where they want to be offensively.

It’s also worth noting that this is yet another player from the state of Texas on the Nebraska football roster. Recruiting the state of Texas has been a priority for head coach Matt Rhule. In that respect, this is another when for a player with ties to the Lone Star State.

In what is an interesting side note, Nebraska football is familiar with productive Texas wide receiver transfers. Marcus Washington served the program well.

Neyor is the second transfer in the 2024 class for Nebraska football, joining corner Blye Hill in that regard.

One of Nebraska football’s goals heading into this weekend was to land a wide receiver. Neyor and Jahmal Banks were the two main targets this weekend. The Huskers have landed one. Now, let’s see if they land Banks, or choose to stay put with the current wide receiver group they have.
